Dr. Martin Dines is Associate Professor and Director of Research at Kingston University's School of Creative and Cultural Industries, teaching twentieth-century British/American literature. His research examines literary representations of suburban environments and queer narratives from the 1950s to present.
His monograph The Literature of Suburban Change analyzes how writers document suburban complexity through innovative forms. Current work investigates literary responses to 1970s London gentrification through infrastructure and mobility themes.
Dr. Dines chairs Kingston's Race/Gender Matters research group. His publications consistently explore how domestic spaces and regional identities shape queer experiences in postwar anglophone literature.
