Dr. Martin Bridgeman is Professor and Assistant Chair for Graduates in the Department of Mathematics at Boston College's Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University and maintains research expertise in hyperbolic geometry, Kleinian groups, and representation varieties with over 50 publications since 1996.
His research explores connections between hyperbolic 3-manifolds, Teichmüller theory, renormalized volume, and geometric structures. Current investigations focus on Weil-Petersson geometry, spectral identities, Patterson-Sullivan theory, and extensions of Teichmüller theory to higher-rank Lie groups.
Recent publications demonstrate strong emphasis on geometric flows, renormalized volume applications, and quantitative bounds in hyperbolic geometry. Article topics cluster around: Weil-Petersson gradient flows, convex core deformations, spectral theory applications, and geometric inequalities in dimension three.
Dr. Bridgeman regularly participates in international workshops including the Ventotene International Workshops on Higher Dimensional Hyperbolic Geometry (2025) and upcoming MSRI programs on discrete subgroups of higher-rank Lie groups (2026).
