Fanny Kassel

Fanny Kassel is a CNRS Research Director at the Institute of Advanced Scientific Studies (IHES), focusing on geometric, dynamical, and spectral aspects of discrete subgroups of Lie groups. Her work connects discrete group actions on homogeneous spaces with geometric structures on manifolds, such as pseudo-Riemannian and projective geometries, and higher Teichmüller-Thurston theory.

Her research spans topics like convex projective geometry, Anosov representations, and pseudo-Riemannian hyperbolic spaces. She has been recognized with the CNRS Bronze Medal (2015), an ERC Starting Grant (2016), and the Mathematics Medal of the French Academy of Sciences (2024).
