Balmaceda maintains an active directing career across the USA, Mexico, and Chile, with recent works including Quixote Nuevo (2025), a border-set reimagining of Don Quixote by Octavio Solis, and Acheron: The River of Tragedy (2025). His extensive portfolio spans 22 years (2003–2025), featuring productions like Medea Desplazada (2018), Antigone (2018), and Daughter of the Makahiya (2014), often collaborating with institutions such as Pan-Asian Repertory Theatre and Universidad de las Americas Puebla.
