Prof. Martijn van den Assem is a Full Professor of Finance at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), specializing in judgment and decision making within financial and behavioral economics. He is affiliated with the Tinbergen Institute as a Research Fellow and serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization. His research uses unconventional data sources like TV game shows, lotteries, and sports to analyze economic behavior.
He teaches across BSc, MSc, PhD, and post-experience programs, including courses on Behavioral Finance and Judgment & Decision Making. His awards include a Vidi Grant (2016) for research on 'Game show economics' and teaching accolades such as the MSc Finance Lecturer of the Year (2018).
