Martijn M. Wienk is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), within the Molecular Materials and Nanosystems (M2N) group. He holds a dual appointment as an ICMS Core member. His research focuses on optimizing hybrid polymer-metal oxide solar cells, emphasizing solution-processed materials for low-cost, scalable photovoltaic applications.
Education & Career:
- BSc/MSc in Chemical Engineering from Twente University
- PhD in Chemistry (1997) from TU/e, supervised by Sudhölter, Janssen, and Meijer
- Postdoc at Philips Natlab (Eindhoven)
- Joined Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) in 2002
- Appointed Assistant Professor at TU/e in 2007
Research Interests: His work centers on solar cell materials, including organic and perovskite solar cells. Key themes include morphological control of active layers, defect engineering, and solar fuels. Recent studies highlight substrate functionalization for perovskite stability and hybrid material optimization.
