Martien Visser

Martien Visser is a part-time Professor of Energy Transition at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, specializing in energy networks, renewable energy systems, and sustainable development. He holds a PhD in Mathematical Modeling of Pulverized Swirling Coal Flames from Delft University of Technology and a Master's in Fluid Flow and Transfer Processes from Eindhoven University of Technology. Before academia, he served in senior roles at Gasunie and GasTerra, focusing on energy conservation and gas market research. Since 2004, he has been a Fellow at the Clingendael International Energy Programme, advising on energy policy. His research interests include electricity grid design, solar energy integration, and energy data analytics. He also contributes monthly columns to Energiepodium.nl, addressing energy policy challenges and sustainability transitions. Key projects include studies on solar panel efficiency, grid impacts of heat pumps, and the role of hydrogen in decarbonization.
