Marten van der Laan

Marten van der Laan is a Professor of System Integration in the Energy Transition at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, affiliated with the Entrance – Centre of Expertise Energy. His work focuses on system integration challenges across technical, economic, legal, and social dimensions of energy transition.

Research interests include sustainable energy systems, battery storage technologies, smart grids, and policy frameworks for renewable integration. He leads major projects like FlexPower (2025–2028) and Future Heat Heroes (2025–2027), addressing grid optimization and decentralized energy solutions.
