Martien Schaub

Martien Schaub is an Associate Professor in the Department of Law & Business at the Erasmus School of Law, Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her research focuses on contract law, consumer law, and online consumer protection, particularly in the context of digital platforms and EU legal frameworks. She holds a multidisciplinary PhD combining law and Industrial Engineering and Management.

Her expertise spans concurrence of laws, European law's influence on national obligations, and legal effectiveness in online contracting. Recent work addresses issues like price adjustment clauses in rental agreements and platform-mediated consumer transactions.

Dr. Schaub has contributed to 83 research outputs, including articles in Tijdschrift voor consumentenrecht & handelspraktijken and Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Burgerlijk Recht. She actively participates in academic events, such as the Law & Digitalisation research seminar and panel discussions on platform economies and consumption values.

Her research interests emphasize legal harmonization across digital platforms, consumer rights in the platform economy, and the intersection of technology with contractual obligations.
