Martha Tingen is a Professor at Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia, where she holds the Charles W. Linder, M.D. Endowed Chair in Pediatrics. She holds joint appointments in the Department of Medicine, Georgia Cancer Center, and The Graduate School, reflecting her interdisciplinary focus on pediatric health, public health interventions, and community-based research.
Education & Credentials: Dr. Tingen earned her Ph.D. in Nursing Science from the University of South Carolina (1995), an MSN from the Medical College of Georgia (1983), and a BSN from the University of South Carolina (1979). She is a certified Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (1995).
Research Focus: Her work centers on reducing health disparities through tobacco cessation, cancer prevention, and community-engaged methodologies. She specializes in interventions targeting underserved populations—particularly African American communities in rural and urban settings—using participatory research frameworks to address social determinants of health.
