Lauren Newhall is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University. She holds a DO in Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathy (2010) and a BS in Biology from Berry College (2005). She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and licensed in Georgia and South Carolina.
Her primary academic focus lies in medical education, particularly in pediatric residency training and competency-based assessment. She has played leadership roles in shaping residency programs through multiple high-level committees, including serving as Chair of the Pediatric Residency Program Evaluation Committee, Pediatric Residency Selection Committee, and Pediatric Chief Resident Search Committee since 2015. Her expertise extends to behavioral and mental health in pediatric care, as reflected in her participation in the Association of Pediatric Program Directors' Behavioral and Mental Health Learning Community.
Dr. Newhall has been recognized for her excellence in teaching, receiving the Clinical Science Teaching Distinguished Faculty Award from Augusta University in 2022. She also completed the prestigious APPD LEAD leadership development program in the same year. Her work in graduate medical education includes service on the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and its Program Evaluation and Accreditation Subcommittee, contributing to institutional oversight of residency programs.
