Martha Schiller serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Physical Therapy at Wayne State University, a role she has held since 2008. She is a licensed Physical Therapist in Michigan with over 25 years of clinical experience across Henry Ford Health System and Detroit Medical Center.
Her educational credentials include:
- Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Western Ontario
- Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University
- Doctor of Physical Therapy from University of St. Augustine
Dr. Schiller's research centers on interprofessional education and clinical education innovation. She pioneered physical therapy integration in the Diabetes Education and Wellness (DEW) Program, Community Homeless Interprofessional Program (CHIP), and Interprofessional Team Visit (IPTV) initiative spanning 9 healthcare disciplines. Her leadership established Wayne State's pro bono PT Clinic—embedded throughout the DPT curriculum—and launched its telehealth component in 2020.
As an APTA-certified trainer since 1997, she instructs Level 1 and Level 2 Credentialed Clinical Instructor Programs while teaching all six DPT clinical education courses. Her 2024 Program Assessment Grant work drives student success innovation through interprofessional curriculum development.
She directs the SAY Detroit PT Clinic and collaborates with teams across DEW, CHIP, and IPTV programs to deliver community-focused care, particularly for homeless and diabetic populations in Detroit.
