Dr. Martha Rosenthal is a Professor of Neuroscience & Physiology at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), where she teaches courses in neuroscience, human physiology, human sexuality, drugs and society, and cannabis. She holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCLA, an M.S. in Neuropharmacology from Brown University, and a B.A. in Biology from the University of Virginia. As Director of the Cannabis Research, Education, and Workforce (CREW) initiative at FGCU, she leads efforts in cannabis research and education. Her research focuses on medical cannabis effects, drugs' societal impacts, and human sexuality, with a particular emphasis on educational game development in classrooms.
Dr. Rosenthal has authored several textbooks, including *Drugs: Mind, Body, and Society* (Oxford University Press, 2018), and presented a TED Talk on sex and gender. She has received prestigious awards, including Teacher of the Year at both the University of Florida and FGCU, and the Senior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. Her work bridges scientific inquiry with societal applications, emphasizing evidence-based approaches to health education and policy.
Her publications span medical cannabis efficacy, sleep neurochemistry, and innovative pedagogical strategies. She actively contributes to interdisciplinary research, particularly in telehealth and patient navigation programs for cancer screening.
