Kerry Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), holding dual roles as Coordinator and Associate Professor in Cellular Biology & Histology. They earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Old Dominion University, along with M.S. and B.S. degrees in Biological and Life Sciences. Lee’s research focuses on nanoparticle technology, nanomedicines, and human pathology, particularly investigating nanomaterial interactions with biological systems such as bacteria, cancer cells, and embryos. Their work integrates plasmonic spectroscopy, in vivo assays, and zebrafish models to study nanotoxicology and drug delivery mechanisms.
Teaching expertise includes Human Physiology, Histology, and Pathophysiology. Lee leads Professional Programs at FGCU, advises the Global Medical Brigades Chapter, and serves on the IACUC Committee. Recognitions include nominations for the Helen Mamarchev Distinguished Advisor Award and CUR National Biology Research Mentor Award, alongside an Excellence in Teaching Award from Sigma Alpha Pi. Their research spans 15+ peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing single-nanoparticle imaging, multidrug resistance studies, and environmental nanotoxicity.
