Martha J. Whittington

Martha J. Whittington is Professor of Sculpture at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta. She earned her M.F.A. from Temple University and B.F.A. from Kansas City Art Institute. With extensive exhibition experience, Whittington creates sculptural works exploring materiality and spatial relationships.

Research interests encompass:

• Large-scale sculptural installations
• Material transformation processes
• Public art interventions
• Spatial perception studies
• Contemporary sculpture theory

Significant recognition includes awards from Idea Capital, Hambidge Center, and MOCA Georgia. Recent exhibitions at Stanley Gallery, High Museum of Art, and Southeast Center for Contemporary Art demonstrate national engagement.
