Martha Enger is a Professor and Vice Dean for Doctoral Education at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Bergen. Her research focuses on glioblastoma (GBM) immunology, particularly the role of natural killer (NK) cells and human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) in tumor immunesurveillance. She investigates mechanisms of NK/T cell receptor-ligand interactions and develops therapies combining NK cells with monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against NG2/CSPG4, EGFR, and proteasome inhibitors.
Her work employs multidisciplinary approaches, including biobanks, animal models, proteomics, and MRI. Key subfields include GBM progression, immunotherapy trials, and resistance mechanisms. Recent articles highlight CMV-driven immuno-modulation, KIR-HLA interactions, and biomarker validation in preclinical models.
Martha supervises academic advisees, including master’s student Kristin Berg Kringstad. She collaborates with the Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Brain Tumour Research Centre and contributes to translational cancer research. Her publications emphasize novel therapeutic strategies and immune contexture analysis in GBM, though no specific awards are listed in the provided text.
