Martha D. Kanter

Martha D. Kanter is a Clinical Professor of Law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where she has been a member of the Communication and Legal Reasoning Faculty since August 2006. She teaches courses such as Communication and Legal Reasoning I and II, focusing on practical legal training and appellate advocacy.

Her professional experience includes practicing commercial litigation, products liability, and toxic tort litigation at Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon, LLP, where she served on the Professional Standards Committee and Recruiting Committee. She has authored numerous successful state and federal appeals.

The article she co-authored (with Elizabeth L. Inglehart) in 2009 explores real-world case simulations to enhance legal writing pedagogy and appellate brief design.
