Martha Bailey is a Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. She specializes in econometric theory, economic history, and health economics, with a focus on data linking methodologies for large-scale historical analysis.
Her research explores the intersection of quantitative economics and public policy, particularly through the Life-M data-linking project. At the 2017 NBER Summer Institute, Bailey presented critical findings on automated data linkage performance in historical samples, collaborating with Connor Cole (PhD student), Morgan Henderson (PhD '17), and Catherine Massey from the Population Studies Center.
As part of the Economics Research at U-M initiative, Bailey contributes to methodological advancements in econometrics while mentoring doctoral students and engaging with the U-M Community of Economists. Her work addresses challenges in integrating administrative datasets for longitudinal economic studies.
