Marta Segarra

Marta Segarra is a Research Professor at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies at the University of Barcelona. She co-founded and directed the Centre Dona i Literatura (1994-2013) and the UNESCO Chair Women, Development, and Cultures (2004-2015). Currently, she serves as Deputy Director of the Laboratoire d'études de genre et de sexualité (LEGS) and is a researcher at ADHUC—Research Center for Theory, Gender, Sexuality.

Research Focus

Her interdisciplinary work spans:

• Gender and Sexuality Studies: Rhetorics, politics, and representations in literature/film
• Post-Humanities: Intersections of animality and human identity
• Community Dynamics: Migratory movements, Roma identities, and feminist perspectives

Leadership & Innovation

She directs the academic series Mujeres y Culturas (Icaria Editorial) and previously edited Expressions maghrébines (2005-2014). Leads teaching innovation groups like Lletra de Dona/LLETRAD (2016-2022), developing digital tools for gender-focused literary criticism.
