Dr. Marta Potrykus is a Lecturer at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk. Her research focuses on microbiology, environmental science, plant pathology, and biotechnological applications. She specializes in studying microbial communities, plant-pathogen interactions, and the synthesis of bioactive compounds in plants like Reynoutria japonica. Her recent work addresses environmental impacts of plastic waste, antimicrobial resistance in food systems, and clinical studies on uremic toxins in dialysis patients.
Dr. Potrykus' scientific contributions include over 30 peer-reviewed articles since 2010, with a focus on:
- Plant bioreactor cultivation for phenolic compound production
- Ecological effects of anthropogenic pollution in coastal ecosystems
- Genetic basis of plant defense mechanisms against bacterial pathogens
- Long-term landfill degradation studies
Her research integrates molecular biology, environmental monitoring, and clinical studies to address interdisciplinary challenges in health, agriculture, and sustainability. Current investigations explore the interplay between iron nutrition, coumarin pathways, and plant disease resistance.
