Marta Jacob Escauriaza is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of the Balearic Islands since 2009. Born in Getxo, Vizcaya in 1968, she holds a PhD in Economics from Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and an MA in Econometrics from the University of Essex (UK).
Her research expertise spans agricultural economics, innovation in tourism services, hotel pricing strategies, and circular economy applications in tourism. She has published extensively in leading journals including Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Agricultural Economics, Tourism Management, and Sustainability, with notable contributions to understanding tourism economics and sustainable practices.

- Organizer of annual Innovation Conference in Tourism with Fundació BIT
- Main researcher in Demographic, Economic and Tourism Studies (GEDETUR) research group
- Member of Los 100 de Cotec of the COTEC Foundation for Innovation
Dr. Jacob Escauriaza teaches Economic Environment courses across all Balearic Islands campuses (Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza) for Business Administration degrees. She previously taught Innovation in Tourism for the Master's Degree in Economics of Tourism and supervised numerous Final Degree Projects. Her professional activities include international consultancy for the European Commission, Government of Chile, and various Spanish governmental bodies on tourism and innovation policy.
