Marta Gonzalez Silveira

Marta Gonzalez Silveira is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), affiliated with the Grup de Propietats Tèrmiques de Materials en la Nanoescala (GTNaM). Since January 2021, 50% of her research is adscribed to the Institut de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2). Her research focuses on ultrastable glasses, glass transition dynamics, and thin film materials. She holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science (UAB, 2006) and a Licenciatura en Física (UAB, 1999).

**Research Interests**: She investigates thermal and structural properties of materials at the nanoscale, particularly ultrastable glasses formed via vapor deposition. Her work explores glass transition mechanisms, surface-bulk interactions, and applications in energy storage (e.g., hydrogen storage materials). Recent breakthroughs include real-time microscopy of glass relaxation (published in *Nature Physics*) and molecular dynamics studies of orientation in organic semiconductor glasses.

**Awards & Grants**: Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (2006–2009), Beatriu de Pinós Fellowship (2009), principal investigator in projects like *NEW FUNCTIONALITIES THROUGH STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING OF ULTRASTABLE GLASSES* (2024–2027) and *DIVERSITY IN THE CULTURES OF PHYSICS* (2016–2019).
