Marta Ceccaroni is a Lecturer in Space Engineering at Cranfield University, affiliated with the Centre for Autonomous and Cyberphysical Systems. She holds a BMath and MMath from the Università degli Studi Roma Tre and a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Strathclyde. Her postdoctoral work included a three-year position in the EU-funded AstroNet-II network. Previously, she contributed to asteroid orbit determination at ESA's NEO Coordination Centre and worked in airport traffic control analysis.
Her research focuses on orbital dynamics, low-energy transfers, asteroid hazard mitigation, and small body dynamics. She leads modules on Astrodynamics, Mission Analysis, and Logic/Automated Reasoning, while managing an OSIP project analyzing asteroid collisions dynamically. Recent work emphasizes close encounter dynamics, halo orbit bifurcations, and impact monitoring systems.
Her articles span celestial mechanics, astrodynamics, and analytical methods in orbital perturbations. Key contributions include studies on asteroid trajectory modeling, orbit determination algorithms, and the application of distant retrograde orbits for hazard mitigation. Current activities involve advancing computational tools for space mission design and planetary defense strategies.
