Marta Caraion is an Associate Professor of French Literature in the Department of French at the Faculty of Arts, University of Lausanne (UNIL), a position she has held since August 1, 2018. Previously, she served as MER1 at the same institution from 2006 to 2018. She co-directs the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Training Program and coordinates the teaching of literary history within the French Section, playing a significant role in both research supervision and curriculum development.
Her research lies at the intersection of literature, science, technology, and visual culture, with a particular focus on 19th-century French literature. Key themes include the relationship between literature and photography, the influence of scientific and industrial developments on literary discourse, and the representation of material culture and everyday objects in literary texts.
