Dr Marta Andriiovych is a Visiting Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oxford specializing in the archaeology of European Neolithization with emphasis on the Black Sea region. Her research integrates GIS methodology to analyze burial ritual evolution and climate-driven migration patterns during prehistoric transitions.
Her primary research domains include:
- Neolithic Period archaeology across Eastern Europe and the Caucasus
- Burial ritual transformations from Mesolithic to Eneolithic periods
- Black Sea region's role in alternative Neolithization pathways
- Climate change impacts on prehistoric societies (particularly 8,200-year event)
- GIS-based spatial analysis of archaeological sites
Dr Andriiovych's current postdoctoral project challenges mainstream Neolithization theories by investigating underrepresented Black Sea corridors between Anatolia and Eastern Europe. Her work addresses significant gaps in Western European archaeological discourse regarding Caucasian and Caspian migration routes, while developing synthetic Neolithic site databases through international collaboration.
