Marta Andhov is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen Faculty of Law, where she serves as a leading expert in public procurement law. She is affiliated with the Centre for Private Governance (CEPRI) and has established herself as a prominent researcher in sustainable public procurement, governmental contracts, and EU law.
Her research interests span public procurement law, sustainability considerations in governmental contracting, EU law, tender law, international trade law, corporate social responsibility, and supply chain management. Dr. Andhov has made significant contributions to understanding how life-cycle costing can be integrated into public procurement processes to advance sustainability goals.
Dr. Andhov leads the Purchase Power project funded by the Carlsberg Foundation (DKK 4.99 million) and co-leads the EU-Horizon 2020 funded SAPIENS project (€3.9 million), which focuses on sustainability and procurement across international, European, and national systems. She is also a member of the COCOREADO project (€2.9 million), which addresses sustainable public procurement of local and seasonal food.
Her scholarly work has been recognized through multiple prestigious awards and grants. She has been cited by high-level decision-makers including the EU Commission, WTO, and UNEP, and her research was referenced in an Advocate General opinion to Case C-332/20. In 2019, she co-edited the influential book 'Cost and EU Public Procurement Law – Life-Cycle Costing for Sustainability,' which has shaped the field of sustainable procurement.
Dr. Andhov is actively engaged in academic dissemination through her co-hosting of the Bestek Public Procurement Podcast and through extensive teaching and training activities. She has conducted seminars for the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply, the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization, and the Procurement Regulation Postgraduate Diploma at King's College London. Her work bridges academic research and practical implementation, making significant contributions to both theoretical understanding and real-world application of sustainable public procurement principles.
