Marshall Urban serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Music and Private Lesson Instructor in Voice within the Department of Music and Theatre at Bethel University's College of Arts and Sciences, where he has taught since 2002.
His educational background includes:
- B.Mus. in Composition from Pennsylvania State University (1984)
- M.Mus. in Voice and Music Theory from Boston University (1989)
- Doctoral Candidate in Voice at the University of Minnesota
Urban specializes in vocal performance disciplines, with expertise spanning Vocal Performance, Vocal Pedagogy, Vocal Literature, and multilingual Vocal Diction. His teaching focuses on technical and artistic aspects of singing, including language-specific diction techniques for English, German, French, and other languages through courses like Private Voice Lessons, Vocal Pedagogy, and Vocal Literature.
As an active performer, he has appeared as soloist with major ensembles including the Minnesota Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, and numerous regional orchestras and choirs across the United States. His prior academic appointments include faculty positions at Penn State University, Bucknell University, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Perkins School for the Blind.
