Marsha Pearce is a Caribbean-based scholar, educator, and independent curator currently appointed as a British Academy Global Professor at The Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge (2024-2028). Her research project "Trembling Abode: Reimagining the Museum as Home for Global Majority Artists" critically examines institutional frameworks for marginalized artists. Previously, she served on the board of the National Museum and Art Gallery of Trinidad and Tobago and advised the Draft National Policy on Culture and the Arts of T&T.
Her research interests include:
- Visual Culture analysis of power dynamics in representation
- Museum decolonization and institutional reform
- Contemporary Caribbean art movements and diaspora
- Curatorial practices centering Global Majority communities
- Cultural policy development in postcolonial contexts
- Caribbean visual heritage preservation
Dr. Pearce received the British Academy Global Professorship (2024), supporting her four-year research collaboration with Cambridge.
