Marnie Harris is a Lecturer and Primary Professional Experience Coordinator at Edith Cowan University's School of Education (South West Campus). She coordinates Professional Experience units (PPA1260, PPA2360) and teaches WPL6335. With over 25 years in education spanning Catholic, Independent, and Government sectors, Marnie maintains active classroom involvement through relief teaching in South-West schools.
Education qualifications include a Master of Education (2024), a Primary Education qualification (2019), and a Bachelor of Education (1999), all from ECU. Her research focuses on regional/rural teacher experiences, AI ethics in professional placements, and pre-service educator well-being. She co-authored 11 peer-reviewed articles and podcasts between 2024-2025, including groundbreaking work on rural teacher retention and international placement challenges.
Awards include the 1998 Golden Key National Honour Society for academic excellence. Marnie actively supports pre-service teachers through professional experience coordination, emphasizing strengths-based approaches and school partnerships. She collaborates with the Rural Regional and Remote Women’s Network and TRBWA professional associations.
Research explores intersections between AI ethics and professional experience logistics, with recent publications analyzing regional career decision-making and principal perspectives on rural schooling.
