Marlowe Hood

Marlowe Hood is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Communication, Media and Culture at the American University of Paris (AUP). He is also a Senior Editor for climate and environmental reporting at Agence France-Presse (AFP), specializing in climate science, biodiversity, and UN climate negotiations. Hood holds degrees in Chinese Studies from UCSC and Princeton University.

• Teaches courses on climate crises and environmental journalism at AUP, including CM5091 on climate and environmental challenges.
• Recipient of the Biophilia Award (2021) for exceptional contributions to ecological communication and the Online Journalism Association Awards (2004).
• Has reported extensively from global climate summits and produced influential articles on topics like energy transition, corporate climate pledges, and biodiversity loss.

His research interests focus on translating complex climate science into accessible journalism, emphasizing the interconnectedness of ecological, economic, and social systems. Hood also mentors journalism students through teaching roles at the Institut Français de Presse and via climate reporting training series.
