Marlene Malmström is an Associate Professor in Nursing at Lund University's Department of Health Sciences and R&D leader at Skåne University Hospital's surgery and gastroenterology practice area. As principal investigator for the ReScreen study and co-leader of the ReMig project, she focuses on optimizing cancer care pathways through interdisciplinary research.

Her research explores cancer rehabilitation and palliative care processes from diagnosis through treatment, emphasizing patient experiences, health equity for migrant populations, and early identification of palliative needs in gastrointestinal cancers. Current projects combine qualitative analyses, randomized controlled trials, and register-based studies to develop individualized rehabilitation models.
