Markus Talvio is a University Lecturer at the Department of Education, University of Helsinki, and a member of the Research Group for Educational Psychology. He serves as Supervisor for the Doctoral Programme in Cognition, Learning, Instruction and Communication and is affiliated with the Teachers' Academy. His work focuses on educational psychology, sustainability education, teacher training, and digital literacy, with a particular emphasis on emotional intelligence and student motivation.
Recent research includes cross-cultural evaluations of the Lions Quest SEL program, flipped classroom models in teacher education, and ecosocial education implementation. He has contributed to 41 publications since 2008, including peer-reviewed articles in Frontiers in Psychology and book chapters on teacher licensing systems. His projects (5 total) span from 2011 to 2023, funded by the Finnish Academy and Research Council of Finland.
