Markus Rottmann is a Lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he has managed the Paper Workshop since fall 2011. He teaches historical and contemporary bookbinding techniques while developing customized presentation solutions for artistic works within the Institute of Art.
His formal training began with a bookbinding apprenticeship in Berlin (1979-1987), culminating in a master's degree. In 1990, he founded his own bookbinding workshop in Berlin-Mitte.
Rottmann's professional focus centers on preserving traditional bookbinding arts while innovating presentation methodologies for contemporary art. His work integrates conservation practices with artistic experimentation:
