Markus Mika is an Assistant Professor in the Biology Department at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL), holding this position since August 2023. Previously, he served as Assistant Teaching Professor (2021–2023) and Associate Lecturer (2015–2021). He obtained his B.S. in Conservation Biology (BYU, 1995), M.S. in Zoology (BYU, 2003), and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (UNLV, 2010). His research focuses on avian ecology, particularly the breeding ecology, phylogeography, and conservation of small owls like the Flammulated Owl (Psiloscops flammeolus).
