Michael Akresh

Michael Akresh is Core Faculty in Environmental Studies at Antioch University New England, where he specializes in wildlife management, biostatistics, ornithology, tropical ecology, and community science. He serves as Director of the Conservation Biology Concentration, Director of Environmental Studies Field Study Trips, and Co-Chair of the Kirtland’s Warbler Conservation Team Non-breeding Range Subcommittee.

• BS in Program in the Environment with Biology Minor from University of Michigan

His research focuses on:

• Wildlife-habitat interactions in shrublands and pine barrens
• Migratory bird full annual cycle dynamics
• Community science applications for biodiversity monitoring
• Tropical avian conservation in the Caribbean
• Quantitative field methods and statistical analysis

Recent publications analyze biodiversity management, migratory connectivity, and nesting ecology. He teaches courses in conservation biology, GIS, biostatistics, and ornithology, emphasizing hands-on learning and stakeholder collaboration.
