Markus-Michael Müller is a Professor in the Department of Social Sciences and Business at Roskilde University, Denmark. His research focuses on transnational security governance, crime and violence, peace and conflict studies, and urban studies, with a particular emphasis on Latin America and the Global South. He holds a PhD in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin, where he previously served as an Assistant Professor (2014-2020). His work examines South-South cooperation, counterinsurgency, and global security dynamics.

Research interests include transnational security collaboration between Latin America and Africa post-9/11, global knowledge entrepreneurship, and the historical entanglements of policing in Latin America. He has authored/co-authored multiple books, including Crucible of Coercion: Latin America, Empire, Global Counterinsurgency (forthcoming) and edited volumes on policing and security governance.
Current projects include studies on African security governance, Latin American security cooperation, and German police assistance in Latin America (1949–1989). He has received the Friedrich Katz Dissertation Award (2012) and frequently contributes to media discussions on topics like Haitian gang violence and Brazilian security policies.
