Prof. Markus Groh is a renowned pianist and Professor of Piano at the University of the Arts Berlin. He is celebrated internationally for his performances with over 140 orchestras globally, including the Berlin Philharmonic and Cleveland Orchestra. His career began with a first prize win at the 1995 Queen Elisabeth Competition, marking him as a leading figure in classical music.
- Founder/Director of the Bebersee Festival (chamber music festival since 2000)
- Recipient of prestigious recording awards including Gramophone's 'Editor’s Choice'
- Notable recordings: Danny Elfman's Piano Quartet (Sony Classical, 2019), and collaborations with Berlin Philharmonic members
His visionary projects include a horse-drawn carriage tour with a replica 1836 Steinway piano, documented in a film by Ralf Pleger, exploring historical contrasts and environmental themes. Groh's pedagogical legacy is evident through students who have won top prizes at Brussels, Ettlingen, and other competitions.
Education: Studied under Konrad Richter (Stuttgart) and Hans Leygraf (Berlin/Salzburg). Took over Klaus Hellwig's professorship at UDK Berlin.
