Markos Tselekounis

Markos Tselekounis is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics within the School of Economics, Business and International Studies at the University of Piraeus. He also serves as a member of the Collaborating Teaching Staff at the Hellenic Open University and as a research collaborator at the Center for Advanced Studies in Management and Economics at the University of Évora in Portugal. His academic career spans teaching and research in microeconomic theory, industrial organization, and network economics.

Dr. Tselekounis earned his Ph.D. in Regulatory Economics and M.Sc. in Telecommunications Economics from the University of Athens, following his undergraduate studies in Economics at the University of Piraeus. Prior to his current position, he served as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Athens and completed postdoctoral research at NOVA University in Lisbon, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.

His research focuses on industrial organization, microeconomic theory, network economics, regulatory policy, and sustainable development. His work examines complex market structures, particularly in telecommunications and network industries, analyzing how regulatory frameworks affect competition, innovation, and investment decisions. He investigates issues such as vertical differentiation, input price discrimination, net neutrality, and the relationship between regulation and innovation in network markets.

His extensive publication record includes articles in leading journals such as the International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Regulatory Economics, and Telecommunications Policy. His recent work explores make-or-buy decisions in vertically differentiated markets, the effectiveness of settlement procedures in antitrust cases, road safety and sustainability metrics, and the impact of regulatory frameworks on innovation in telecommunications.

Dr. Tselekounis actively participates in national and European research programs related to economics and regulation of network markets. His teaching portfolio includes undergraduate courses in Microeconomic Theory and Telecommunications & Network Economics, as well as postgraduate courses on sustainable development and entrepreneurship.
