معرفی
Dr Mark White is a Research Fellow at the University of Sydney's School of Chemistry, holding dual appointments as an NHMRC Investigator and Robinson Fellow. His research spans molecular enzymology and biological chemistry with applications in medicinal chemistry, food security, and hypoxic disease treatment.
- Education: BSc (Hons), PhD (Manchester Institute of Biotechnology)
- Training: Postdoc at University of Oxford, Novo Nordisk STAR Fellow
Research Focus: Characterizing novel oxygen-sensing enzymes and their roles in hypoxia, particularly in human cells and plants. His work targets therapeutic strategies for cancer, cardiovascular disease, and food security through enzymatic manipulation.
Publications: 15+ high-impact studies on oxygenases, hypoxia mechanisms, and biochemical pathways, including breakthroughs in cysteine oxidase function and flavin-based catalysis.
- Awards:
- NHMRC Investigator Grant (2022)
- ARC DECRA Fellowship (2019)
- 2021 Selby Award
- Cardiovascular Initiative Catalyst Award (2019)
Supervision: Mentors 3 PhD candidates and 1 postdoctoral researcher. Grants: Leads projects on oxygen-sensing systems and hypoxia treatments funded by NHMRC, NSW Health, and the Cardiovascular Initiative.
