معرفی
Mark Turnbull is a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Chemistry at Clark University. His research focuses on molecular magnetism and low-dimensional antiferromagnets, involving interdisciplinary collaborations with physicists and chemists. Notably, he has developed novel magnetic materials and explored their applications in superconductivity.
Education: Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (Brandeis University, 1987), M.S. in Inorganic Chemistry (University of New Hampshire, 1984), B.S. in Chemistry (University of New Hampshire, 1978). He has held visiting roles at the University of Canterbury (1995) and Universitat de Barcelona (2001–2002).
Research Themes: His work emphasizes designing materials with tailored magnetic properties through structural control. Key areas include copper-based antiferromagnetic systems, halide-bridged coordination polymers, and quantum Heisenberg antiferromagnets. Recent studies explore inter-dimensional magnetic topologies (ladders, honeycombs) and doping effects on superconductivity.
Publications: Over 150 peer-reviewed articles since 2019, focusing on structural and magnetic analyses of copper, cobalt, and nickel complexes. Notable contributions include studies on pyrazine-bridged chains, halide-bridged polymers, and quantum spin systems.
Awards: PCI Synthesis Summer Research Fellowship (2021–2021).
Collaborations: Active partnerships with Prof. Christopher Landee’s group in Physics at Clark, plus international teams in Spain, Germany, and New Zealand. His work bridges experimental synthesis with computational modeling.
