Mark Stemwedel is an Associate Academic Director and Senior Lecturer at the School of Design, South Dakota State University (SDSU). He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of South Dakota and a bachelor’s degree from SDSU. His teaching focuses on painting, drawing, color theory, art appreciation, and art education.
His studio practice emphasizes representational painting, with exhibitions at the Washington Pavilion, IPSO Gallery, Exposure Gallery, and the South Dakota Art Museum. His work has been featured in national juried exhibitions and he received the South Dakota Arts Council Development Grant. He is based at Grove Hall 106B in Brookings, SD.
