Mark Nachtigal is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba, and holds a cross-appointment in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. As Director of the Advanced Degrees in Medicine program and the Interdisciplinary Health Program, he plays a key role in graduate education. His research focuses on epithelial ovarian cancer, particularly recurrent and chemotherapy-resistant disease.

Dr. Nachtigal's laboratory investigates human EOC biology using patient-donated cells, evaluates novel lipid-based therapeutics for chemoresistant EOC, and develops genetic models for EOC. His work intersects with chromosome instability and tumor epidemiology.
He is affiliated with the Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute at CancerCare Manitoba and leads the Manitoba Ovarian Cancer Outcomes study group (MOCO) and Manitoba Ovarian Cancer Research group (MOCR). Currently, he is not accepting graduate students.
