Mark Meuwese is a Professor in the History Department at the University of Winnipeg, part of the Faculty of Arts. His research focuses on Indigenous-European relations, genocide studies, race and racism, and Dutch imperialism and colonial expansion. He teaches courses such as Indigenous Peoples and Colonial Genocides, Racism in World History, and Atlantic World History.
His publications include To the Shores of Chile, examining Dutch colonial expeditions, and Brothers in Arms, Partners in Trade, exploring Dutch-Indigenous alliances in the Atlantic World. These works highlight his specialization in colonial dynamics and cross-cultural interactions.
Meuwese is affiliated with the Newberry Consortium in American Indian Studies and the H. Sanford Riley Centre for Canadian History. His academic contributions span historical analysis of imperialism, colonialism, and Indigenous histories.
