Mark Meng is an Associate Professor and Librarian at St. John’s University’s Staten Island campus, overseeing Library Instructional Services. He previously served as Director of Loretto Memorial Library (2000–2018). His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature (Rutgers, 1990), an MLS (Rutgers, 1991), and a B.A. in English from Chongqing University (1982).
Research focuses on library pedagogy, including learning object repositories and interactive tutorials, presented at conferences like MERLOT 2006 (Ottawa), IASL 2005 (Hong Kong), and ICTL 2005 (Peking University). He has authored over 50 book reviews for journals like Library Journal and CHOICE, specializing in Chinese Religion, Buddhism, and Asian Studies. His literary expertise includes classical Chinese poetry, particularly tetra-syllabic-line poems from China’s Northern and Southern Dynasties (386–589 CE).
Teaching includes the SJC Honor Class on Asian Literature and courses on Abstract Expressionism. Subject specialties span Chinese Studies, Hospitality, Philosophy, and Theology.
