Mark Maguire is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. His research focuses on security studies, counterterrorism, biometric security, and migration. He has held visiting professorships at Stanford University and has edited leading journals like Social Anthropology/Anthropologie Sociale. His recent works include Trapped: Life Under Security Capitalism (2024) and Getting through Security (2020). Maguire has also authored studies on Vietnamese-Irish communities and African migrant integration in Ireland.
