Dr. Mark Lomax, II serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at Wittenberg University's School of Music, a position he has held since 2023. A critically acclaimed composer, recording artist, drummer, activist, and educator, he holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Ohio State University.

Lomax's research centers on the socio-political and spiritual dimensions of African-American art music, race, and community building through the arts. His magnum opus 400: An Afrikan Epic (2019)—a 12-album cycle documenting the Afrikan diaspora—exemplifies his focus on African-American Music, Music Composition, Social Justice, Community Arts, and Diaspora Studies. This work integrates scholarly rigor with cultural storytelling through complementary curriculum and documentary components.
He has held significant artistic residencies including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (2019) and Denison University (2017), and is a sought-after lecturer known for his TED Talk "Activating The Transformative Power Of Trust" and pandemic-era YouTube series "Drumversations" that explores trust-building through musical dialogue.
