Dr. Mark Liu Sirkin is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Associate Dean of the School of Health Professions at Long Island University (LIU), where he currently serves as Interim Program Director of the PsyD program. He has held academic appointments at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology (Yeshiva University), and Mercy College, where he served as Director of the Mental Health Counseling Program and Associate Dean of the School of Behavioral Sciences.
Dr. Sirkin earned his PhD and MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Connecticut and a BS from Boston University. His training followed the Scientist-Practitioner Boulder Model, with a clinical internship at the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services. He also completed a post-doctoral certificate in Organizational Development and Consultation from the William Alanson White Institute.
His research and professional interests span clinical psychology, family and group therapy, consulting psychology, systems theory, mindfulness, neuroscience, narrative psychology, and cyber-psychology. He has developed national recognition in consulting to family businesses and law firms, and is a Fellow of the Society of Consulting Psychology (APA Division 13).
The recent publications highlight a strong integration of systems theory, narrative, neuroscience, and applied psychology across domains such as coaching, organizational consulting, cyber-psychology, and positive counseling. His work reflects a trend toward synthesizing clinical depth with organizational and technological applications.

Dr. Sirkin has advised numerous PhD and PsyD students at Yeshiva University and supervised over 100 graduate students at Mercy College. He has led curriculum development, faculty hiring, and accreditation processes. He has received no explicit mention of research grants, but his leadership roles in program development and accreditation imply substantial administrative and educational funding support. He currently oversees 37 full-time and 72 adjunct faculty at LIU’s School of Health Professions.
He is actively involved in the development of cyber-psychology applications, with three pending patents for a Multi-Level Cyber-Security Risk Assessment and Mitigation System. He also collaborates with an NPR-affiliated radio station to produce a public talk show on applied psychology, aiming to engage students in public outreach.
