Mark Huppin is a Continuing Lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies at UCLA's College of Social Sciences. With a JD from Stanford Law School and PhD in Psychology from UCLA, his interdisciplinary research bridges constitutional law, mass communication, and psychology, often focusing on sex and violence in media. He currently serves as Principal Investigator for the UC Office of the President's Task Force on Preventing Sexual Violence.
Huppin's scholarship critically examines First Amendment jurisprudence concerning pornography regulation, sexual coercion, and media effects. His work proposes evidence-based approaches to obscenity doctrine that balance free speech protections with harm prevention. Recent publications analyze the legal and psychological dimensions of sexual content regulation.
