Mark Fleming

Mark Fleming is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University, serving as a core faculty member of the Simulation-driven Engineering (SdX) program. He holds a PhD (1997), MS (1994) in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Northwestern University, and a BS (1992) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Fleming is also a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois and an active member of ASME, SAE, USACM, and ASM International.

His research and professional work focus on engineering design, analysis, and accident investigation involving vehicles and machinery. As a Principal Engineer at Caulfield Engineering, he specializes in product testing, failure analysis, and consultation for design reviews and accident reconstruction. Prior experience includes roles at Packer Engineering, ITC, and Case Corporation/CNH.

Dr. Fleming teaches Advanced Finite Element Analysis and contributes expertise in computational mechanics and reliability engineering. His career spans academia, industry, and consulting, emphasizing practical applications of mechanical engineering principles.
