Y. Charles Lu

Dr. Y. Charles Lu is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Paducah Campus at the University of Kentucky. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from the University of Western Ontario (2000) and three master's degrees in mechanical engineering, materials science, and mathematics. As a licensed professional engineer (PE) in Kentucky, he contributes to mobility-related research, teaching, and student development.

• Research Focus: Micromechanics, nanomechanics, polymers, composites, finite-element modeling, and computational materials science.
• Leadership: Associate Editor, SAE International Journal of Materials and Manufacturing and SAE International Journal of Aerospace.
• Professional Affiliations: Fellow of ASME and SAE, Senior Member of AIAA, Member of ASEE, SEM, and ACS Rubber Division.
